Wind Energy Transmission Texas – North McCamey – Bearkat
The North McCamey to Bearkat Transmission Project is a joint initiative by Wind Energy Transmission Texas (WETT) and Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to construct a new transmission line in West Texas. ERCOT designated this project as critical to the reliability of the ERCOT system. The new line is a double circuit 345 kV system, which consists of approximately 60 miles of lattice tower structures, connecting LCRA’s Noth McCamey Substation in Upton County to WETT’s Bearkat Substation in Glasscock County. The project aims to enhance grid reliability and accommodate the growing electricity demand driven by the expanding oil and gas industry in the Delaware Basin area. M&S Engineering provided consultation services during the routing study and CCN filing, detailed design, surveying, LiDAR, geotechnical investigation and construction support services to aid WETT’s team execute this project. Expected completion is June 2026.
