Transmission System Upgrades – Navajo Tribal Utility Authority

M&S Engineering recently provided design services for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority’s transmission system upgrade and hardening projects.  The projects, located in McKinley County, New Mexico, are 115kV with tubular steel structure construction.  954 kcmil 54/7 ACSR conductor was utilized with 96 count fiber optic cable shield.  Along with the engineering design, M&S was also tasked with preparation of the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) funding application, procurement/material bidding support, and permit drawings.  The projects covered approximately 94 linear miles and included transmission segments 3-Way to Coalmine, Cudei to Newcomb, Newcomb to Tohatchi, and Tohatchi to 3-Way.
