M&S Engineering, and its sister company Sherwood Surveying & S.U.E., were founded on values that foster an atmosphere where we focus on long-term relationships built on trust. That trust is formed over time by consistently delivering quality designs and expert advice to our clients. M&S looks forward to seeing continued growth and what the future holds. M&S Engineering is an EOE/Affirmative Action Employer M/F/D/V.
M&S Engineering is the lead design firm for Bryan Texas Utility’s annual electric distribution capital improvement projects. By performing engineering design, staking, right-of-way acquisition, bill of materials development, and bid document preparation one fiscal year prior to construction, M&S is able to ensure the BTU CIP stays on schedule and within budget. M&S was assigned a wide variety of projects to include re-conductors, improvements to substation exits, 1/0 to 3/0 upgrades, and ampacity verification on underground feeders. All projects were completed and delivered to BTU on time, under budget, and to BTU’s standards.
As part of a substation upgrade to replace aging infrastructure, M&S Engineering provided design, material procurement, and project management for Phase 1 to replace a 100 MVA 138 kV to 36 kV distribution transformer and associated metal-clad switchgear. In addition, to minimize the risk of service interruptions to the San Antonio International Airport, the existing 138 kV bus was split into two buses with the addition of a 138 kV tie breaker. Relay upgrades and additional relaying was required to protect the 138 kV bus. For Phase 2 of this project, M&S performed upgrades to the existing 138 kV 50 MVAR capacitor bank, which included upgraded relays with the addition of a 138 kV IPO breaker. Finally, in Phase 3, M&S was tasked with upgrading relaying on the 138 kV bus #1 differential relaying along with relay upgrades to Transformer #2 and Switchgear #2.
M&S Engineering provided design, material procurement assistance, and project management for this new substation project. The North Texas Municipal Water District is building a reservoir (Bois d’Arc Lake) to be used as a water supply for the region’s growing population.
M&S Engineering provided design, material procurement, and project management services for extending the station by 300 feet to accommodate the extension of the 345 kV bus to add two 60 MVAR reactor banks. Phase 1 of this project is complete with the addition of one 60 MVAR reactor bank and one 345 kV IPO breaker, as well as the associated relaying.
