Elm Creek 345 KV Switching Station in Seguin, TX
M&S Engineering provided design, material procurement, and project management services for extending the station by 300 feet to accommodate the extension of the 345 kV bus to add two 60 MVAR reactor banks. Phase 1 of this project is complete with the addition of one 60 MVAR reactor bank and one 345 kV IPO breaker, as well as the associated relaying.
Design activities include conceptual design, on-site verifying existing physical design (station oneline and layouts, bus section views, and control conduit and grounding details) and electrical design (relay oneline, AC and DC systems, relay panels including panel layout, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and equipment connection diagrams). If the drawings are not correct, we trace wires and make asbuilt corrections before starting design. We provide material and construction estimations for project budgeting.
Material procurement activities include creating a master bill of materials showing quantities and descriptions so that we can procure those materials through SAP (material/equipment review and approval included). SAP is the equivalent of PETE/Maximo.
Project management activities include leading project meetings, coordination with other departments inside the utility, construction contractor documentation (bid units and specifications) for bidding process, bid review and recommendation, project updates during construction, and project closeout (including creating asset master records).
