West Levee to Norwood 345kV Transmission Line

As part of an ongoing contract, M&S Engineering was asked to provide engineering design, procurement support, and project management services for this complex transmission line project in Dallas, Texas.

In a sub-contract role, Sherwood Surveying provided all topographic surveying, boundary, and engineering design survey support. Additionally, Sherwood supported the right of way acquisition and construction staking. The new transmission line was to be constructed in the center median of a busy boulevard near an industrial park. While only seven (7) miles long, the double circuit 345kV line included a 138kV under-built circuit with an extremely challenging route and schedule.

The key to the success for this project was M&S Engineering’s broad experience in both Civil Engineering and Transmission Line Design. To further complicate this critical project, a compressed schedule required many of the permitting and design activities to be done simultaneously.
