WETT – Competitive Renewable Energy Zones 345kV Transmission Lines
Under Texas PUC order 33672 – Competitive Renewable Energy Zones (CREZ) were established to incentivize utilities to construct new transmission line assets for connection of renewable energy producers in West Texas to load centers throughout Central and East Texas.
As part of an Engineering-Procure-Construct (EPC) team, M&S Engineering provided the engineering and design for the transmission line. This project was awarded in the spring of 2011.
M&S performed the initial line design, engineering construction support and as-built with our responsibilities concluding in the spring of 2014. The project included seven line sections totaling 412 miles of double circuit 345kV lines with 1843 lattice and tubular steel pole structures.
M&S deliverables included PLS-CADD models, route maps, plan and profiles, bill of materials, staking tables, OPGW installation tables, stringing charts, phasing diagrams, structure framing drawings, geotechnical analysis, and foundation designs. Additional services included Subsurface Utility Engineering investigation at each structure location.
